Hi,

I want to know what are the the types of project which uses Pro *c,

We use oracle sql-pl/sql for database development (Calling stored procedures from java or other programming languagues). Similarly we have forms and reports and OWB and other tools.

I am bit curious about Pro C , where normally its used ?

Regards,

It is used by those who have C programs and those who don't want to use Java for instance.
Do you ask you why you use Java?

Java, can be used as a web based application, and oracle can be a backend for it.

How C/Pro C would be used ?

C is like Java to create application, Pro*C is like SQLJ to create Oracle application.

Yes you can.
Any scenario, all scenarii, everything you can do with Java or any other programming language can be done with C.

I don't know (and don't care), ask all GUI editors.
Why do you want to know what programming language they used?

As I said (almost) all applications can be develop in Pro*C.
So your customer application can be anything and no external example can help you to know what you will have to meet with.

No but a Pro*C program can be a service itself.
Pro*C is just a language (actually an extension of C language) and a precompiler.

Ohh yeah !!

Let me start spending some time in understanding Pro*C, i would dfntly have some practical questions on this rather than guessing too much.

Thanks Michel.

One last question,

When we compile Pro*C program, a .c file will be generated...Can we make it an .exe (just as normal C/C++ applications).

And when we run the program in other systems,is it mandatory that we should have oracle database connected to it.
