BullionVault.com - the world's biggest on-line investment gold trading business - is investing in its core Oracle platform. Already having the best direct retail product in our area, we are working towards a major role in the global bullion markets. We need our database platform to move forward with us.

We're seeking an experienced Oracle PL/SQL developer and DBA to care for and improve our core Oracle platform. With over $1 billion worth of assets booked through the platform, this is a key role in our organisation.

Candidates should bring with them a solid Computer Science / engineering degree and a track record demonstrating talent and delivery. A financial services background is not essential; a background of database work in high-load mission critical environments is. We run on CentOS, so a good grasp of Linux administration is required.

The successful candidate will be smart and enthusiastic, showing an aptitude for technology extending beyond just Oracle we employ the best and give them room to work. Being able to click through GUI tools is not enough.

In this role your primary responsiblity will be the smooth running of our core database platform. But you will spend the majority of your time working with our Java developers to delivery new functionality to our clients and back-office teams.

If you can immediately answer questions like these, get touch with us now:

  • Why isn't a bitmap index a good idea in an OLTP environment?
  • Where would mutating table exceptions keep happening? (And how to by-pass them if you really have to?)
  • What will stop me setting up an OLAP schema on a physical standby?
  • Which portion of UNDO is backed up and why?
  • When should you set a database block size differently to the OS?
  • Why is the BULK COLLECT clause so useful in batch jobs?

And on this forum I imagine that's most of you Wink

Principals only please. No agencies. This is a London-based job and you will need to be able to work in the UK.

Apply to re cru ... ment tat bullion vault .com with a CV and covering letter.

tat?
From my Oxford Advanced Learner's dictionary: "goods that are cheap and of low quality".
Is this the kind of job you offer?
