I need to design an oracle report, output of which should directly be in xls. Any idea which oracle reports version does
this support.

Still haven't found it? I'll repeat myself too: Use CSV.

Perhaps 10g can but you'll have to check OTN for that.

Have you searched MetaLink yet?
